Disable "save image as", "copy image" function on website.

Firstly like to say that this is a great website Ian.  Its nice to find an easy avenue to interact with other people with the same passion for landscape photography.

Just wondering if the right mouse click "save image as" and "copy image" options when viewing images at full size could be disabled.  Even though copyright is automatically applied in Australia, it would be peace of mind that our images can only be viewed by anyone and not saved and reused.

I hope i'm not he only one who feels this way :)

Cheers ,

Aaron

Actually Aaron, I find it great to be able to download select photos to my 'photoreference' folder. I have to concede that I feel little concern over my images being pirated, probably much less likely than for most members. I think this is a group issue and would hope many members will add their opinions.

I am of the opinion that it should be disabled as well. I didn't realise that it wasn't.

Its a bit of a paradox, its guarded on the page where it appears small but not on the page where it appears full size.

It 's a simple fix, i think it is because a new window is opened.  Not sure of the difficulty of setting it up so that each member can change the setting on their "My Page/settings" (e.g. checkbox).

Guys, I'm with Thomas on this one. I don't have a problem with people using my images sized for the screen for their wallpaper or screen saver. I know there's an element of risk that someone could try to use them for commercial purposes without paying and because of that I'm happy to go with the position of the professional and semi-professional photographers on the site. After all it's their bread and butter and they have every right to want to safeguard it.

Hi All,

good point - it may be browser specific - i cant save any of the images!

it's disabled in Safari and firefox - im using Mac

what are you guys using?

;-)

Im using Google Chrome but tried it in internet explorer and it does it in that as well.  It only seems to allow the option once you press the "view fill size " link on bottom rh side of the photos.  After pressing that the image opens in a new window where it can be right mouse clicked and saved.

Hi All,

i think i have successfully disabled the view full size feature

so although you cant view full size - the right click protection is still enabled in all versions of the photos

Is everyone happier with that?

I am!

thanks

;-)

Ian, not to be a pain, but is there no way to preserve the full size function while disabling the download? I am finding I miss the full size option!

Sorry Thomas - i cant separate the two ;-(

Thanks Ian

Your not the only one Aaron.

Bevan

all sorted now

;-)
