Now that phrase would have had a different meaning a decade and a half ago.

What a great weekend up at Cervantes.  A hundred thousand thanks to Thelma Murphy for organising (and catering the Saturday morning get-together).  Unfortunately a headache precluded me from attending the Saturday night dinner/drinks/talk, but it was fantastic to catch up with people and learn, learn, learn.  It was the first real outing with the 7D, and I have to say that with the 17-40L (picked up second-hand courtesy of the good people at Camera Electronic - shameless plug) it was a delight to use.

Many shots were taken, and there may well be some keepers in there.  Time will tell - some shots that I thought were ordinary at first will no doubt look much better after a creative crop and a little bit of post.  There was a brief period of near-panic on Sunday night when a brand new CF card with about 200 images failed to read.  Luckily all of the data was recovered using PhotoRec - a command line tool, but a very handy one and it's freeware/donationware (another shameless plug).

Now to tag, sort and process the RAWs....got a few night's fun ahead of me.
