Hey all,

well tomorrow is D-Day. My first ever hike/camping trip by myself. I will be heading up to Kosziosko National Park, more specifically Blue Lake. It will be a 2hour walk from the car park to Blue Lake and then I will set up camp for the night and sit and wait for the fantastic afternoon light (hopefully).

I will be stopping off at Cooma on the way up, to spend a night with my Granddad and also to photograph at Flynns Wrecking Yard. Basically it is a huge wrecking yard for cars so hopefully there will be some nice shots I can get of old abandoned rust buckets. Might be alright or a complete dud.

Blue Lake is the attraction of the trip though. I was meant to walk the track leading to the lake from Charlottes Pass car park last Christmas break but was too sick, I barely made it to the top of Kosziosko a few days before and then the headaches and coughing just kept getting worse. From the research I have done on the net, the lake is very photogenic. Some great shots with snow in the winter months, and also with the wild flowers in the summer. Bit nervous but filled with excitement.

Well wish me luck, and I will be posting the photos when I get back.

How'd you go mate?

I'm currently trying to arrange a trip up to the main range in winter on snow shoes - would be interesting to say the least!

The walk was a killer. I am by no means super fit, moderate lets say, and it was torture. I did have all the gear on my back but with just a camera bag it may not be too bad. I have just finished editing some of the photos I got. Awesome location, very photogenic. The lake itself is spectacular, when you eventually get there. But i would go back again in a heart beat, the country was just amazing. Wide open plains, The Snowy River, and some great mountain ranges. I would highly recommend doing it. Was a lot of fun.
